Do You Need a Separate Website?
You have two options:
1. Separate Website
(Recommended for long-term growth)
A dedicated website (e.g., www.LegacyPublishingLiteracyInitiative.org) gives the nonprofit its own identity, helps with grant applications, clearly separates it from your for-profit publishing business, and makes it easier for donors to understand and support the charitable mission.
2. Pages on Your Existing Website
(Acceptable, with clear separation)
You can add a clearly branded section to your existing website (e.g., a dedicated “Literacy Initiative” section) as long as the nonprofit is clearly presented as a separate organization with its own mission, programs, donation process, and financial information. The content should make it easy for visitors to understand that the Literacy Initiative is a separate nonprofit from Legacy Publishing LLC.
Key:
Keep the nonprofit's branding, messaging, and donation process clearly distinct.
Use a separate page structure and dedicated donation links.
Consider a separate website over time, especially when pursuing grants and larger partnerships.
